Alina
Alina joined the staff in 1996 and is one of our overnight technicians. She started working with animals as an attendant at the Children's Zoo section of the Brookfield Zoo when she was a senior in high school. Alina later went on to work at a local small animal clinic.
When not at Golf Rose Animal Hospital, Alina is a full-time middle school teacher in Schiller Park. She teaches reading to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, and will soon complete her master's degree as a Reading Specialist. She is the proud mother of the following "furry children": 12-year old Timber, 6-year old Charlie, and 4-year old Wilson, all Labrador Retrievers; 3-year old Gato, 2-year old Ozzie, and 6-month old Cooper, all cats; Mojito, an Ecletus, and 5-year old Simon and Jerry, both Quakers.
David
David joined the staff of Golf Rose Animal Hospital in 1999 and works part-time as a technician. He started as a veterinary technician in 1991. David also works as an ultrasound technician and has worked as an assistant at an oral surgery practice (both for humans). David was born in Guatemela and moved to the United States when he was about 12 years old. He is married and has a son, a daughter, and one dog, Jackie.
Deanne, CVT
Deanne serves as our Night Technician Supervisor. She has been on the staff of Golf Rose Animal Hospital since 1986 and has worked at veterinary hospitals for 25 years. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in anthropology. Deanne's pets currently include dogs, cats, a warmblood horse, birds (a quaker, a cockatoo, and an ecletus), and a guinea pig. Deanne has volunteered her time on Humane Society of the Unites States Rural Area Veterinary Services trips to Native American reservations in South Dakota. back to top
Jen A.
Jen A. has worked as a technician at Golf Rose Animal Hospital since 2002. Prior to joining our hospital staff, she worked for two years at another small animal hospital. Jen grew up in Elmwood Park. She has 3 dogs (ten, nine, and eight years old) and 3 cats (eighteen, four and three years old). back to top
Jen S.
Jen S. joined the staff of Golf Rose Animal Hospital in 2001. She had initially applied for a job when she was 16, but was told that she had to wait until she was 18 years old. We're glad that she came back two years later! Jen has been at Golf Rose for 6 years and has worked with animals for eight years. She has a Bachelor's of Arts degree in sociology and business and is currently working on her M.B.A. degree.
Born in Chicago, Jen grew up in Wood Dale. She has a 6-year old American Staffordshire Terrier (Shanna), and a 6-month old American Staffordshire puppy (Maleah). She also has five cats and one bird. Jen volunteers for Almost Home Foundation by fostering animals, and loves to help out strays. back to top
Jill
Jill joined Golf Rose Animal Hospital in 2005. She has completed a continuing education program at Harper College to become a certified veterinary assistant. Jill has continued to grow and learn on the job, and now is one of our emergency technicians. She recently adopted a 2-year old Boston Terrier from a no-kill shelter in Indiana.
Jill grew up in Schaumburg and is a graduate of Schaumburg High School. Since then, she has lived in Kentucky and Georgia and worked at a local animal shelter while in Atlanta. Currently, Jill holds a second job as a waitress at Wildfire Restaurant and is working towards attending nursing school.
Karin
Karin has worked at animal hospitals for 20 years, and has been a technician at Golf Rose Animal Hospital since 1995. She was born in Germany and grew up in the Chicago area. Karin is married, has two grown children, and has had many pets of various kinds. Her favorites, though, are Pugs and prairie dogs.
Karin volunteers over 1,000 hours each year hand-raising babies for a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. She has also volunteered her time with the CVMA Pet Loss Support Helpline for over 15 years. When not working with animals, Karin enjoys music, reading, gardening, and crafts. back to top
Kristy
Kristy is one of our overnight emergency technicians. She began working in animal hospitals when she was 16 years old. Kristy worked at other local hospitals as a technician before joining Golf Rose in 2002. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from Southern Illinois University and is currently working towards a graduate degree in biotechnology.
Kristy grew up in Palatine and is a graduate of Fremd High School. She has two mixed breed dogs (Lushia and Jovi) and four cats (Fozzy, Jack, Moe, and Tank), all adopted from local rescue groups. Kristy has volunteered for several animal organizations, including Pasado's Safe Haven in New Orleans following Hurrican Katrina. back to top
Lauren
Lauren started as a technician at Golf Rose Animal Hospital in 2005, after working at an animal hospital in the western suburbs since 2003. Lauren graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in German language and literature from Northern Illinois University.
Lauren grew up in Georgia and in Peoria, Illinois. She has two cats, Hera and Zeus. Hera is about eight years old and was adopted from the Almost Home Foundation in 2006. Zeus is also about eight years old and Lauren adopted him from the Naperville Humane Society. She also has a 27-year old horse named Boo. Lauren got Boo 15 years ago and used to compete with him in combined training (dressage and jumping). Now Boo is retired, and he and Lauren just go on trail rides together. back to top
Lisa
Lisa joined the staff of Golf Rose Animal Hospital as an emergency technician in 2005. In 2007, she started working weekdays too. She started working at animal hospitals in 1985, and also worked as a groomer between 1990 and 2002, winning grooming awards and also teaching grooming. Between 1989 and 1994, Lisa co-owned and ran one of the largest and first pet-sitting services in the area, Critter Sitters. Critter Sitters had twelve employees and covered Cook, DuPage, and parts of Kane and McHenry counties. Lisa also worked in the mortgage industry for a few years. She is currently enrolled at Purdue University's veterinary technician distance learning program.
Lisa grew up in Elmhurst. She is married and has a teenaged daughter. Her family also includes three dogs (Isabella, a 5-year old mixed breed; Gertrude, a 3-year old Jack Russell Terrier mix; and Douglas, a 4-year old Boston Terrier), two cats (Asparagus - 18-year old, and Alphonse, 1-year old), a Quaker parrot (Mercury), and a tortoise named Bob. In her spare time, Lisa enjoys knitting, crocheting, and scrapbooking and is a die-hard White Sox fan! back to top
Marie
Marie joined Golf Rose Animal Hospital in 2007 after moving to Schaumburg from Canada. Marie is French Canadian and was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. A 2003 graduate of Lionel-Groux College in Quebec with a degree in Animal Health Technology, Marie is a licensed Animal Health Technician in Canada. Marie has worked with animals for seven years. She started working in a pet store while in college, and then worked part-time in a research laboratory until she finished her degree. After graduation, she then worked full-time at the lab in the field of animal histology.
Marie has been married since May 2007, and shares part-time care for her husband's three sons. The rest of the family currently includes cats Diesel and Molly, littermates adopted from a shelter, tropical fish, and a turtle. Marie had a ball python for 5 years, but sadly had to leave him in Canada when she moved to Illinois. In her spare time, Marie enjoys computer games, arts and crafts, and music. She studied classical music for 12 years and plays clarinet, piano, and saxophone. back to top
Marina
Marina joined the staff of Golf Rose in 2007. A south suburban Chicago native, she graduated in 2006 from Roosevelt University in Chicago with a bachelor's degree in Biology. Prior to Golf Rose, she worked as a technician at a practice in Oak Park for one year.
Marina has two Ball Pythons, 10-year old Lamont and 3-year old Hawk. She also lives with two Bearded Dragons, Mort and Draco. In her free time, she volunteers in the Biology Department at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park in Chicago. Marina likes to read and watch movies, is a huge Bears fan, and is also a big fan of Bruce Springsteen. back to top
Melina, CVT
Melina graduated from the Bel-Rea Institute of Veterinary Technology in Denver, Colorado with an Associate in Applied Science degree in veterinary technology. After graduating, she joined the staff of Golf Rose Animal Hospital in January 2003. Melina has been a technician since 2000.
Melina grew up around here. Her dog, Louie, is a 6-year old Pit Bull Terrier, and she has two cats, 10-year old Scrappy-doo and 12-year old Negra. In her spare time, Melina likes to take Louie to river and forest preserves and go camping. back to top
Nancy
Nancy joined Golf Rose Animal Hospital in 2002 and works as a technician, groomer, and dog trainer. She has many years of experience working as a groomer and raising and training any baby animals that have come her way since she was young. She got her start as a trainer with her first Rottweiler, training for AKC obedience trials.
Nancy first became involved with dog training when she was helping children in 4-H clubs train their dogs for obedience trials and manage behavior problems. She has taught puppy classes and beginning obedience classes at Fox Valley Dog Club and at the Chicago German Shepherd Club. Nancy has also participated in novice, open, and agility competitions with her own dog, Daisy. Daisy is an Australian Shepherd and holds three titles.
Nancy started working full-time at Golf Rose Animal Hospital when she became a single mother to her four sons. Before becoming a technician, Nancy, at various times in her life, worked as a florist, a semi-professional bowler, a personal trainer, and an office manager. She even almost became a firefighter when she was 37 years old! back to top
Natalie
Natalie joined the staff of Golf Rose Animal Hospital in July, 2005 and is one of our experienced overnight emergency technicians. Before Golf Rose, she was a technician at a practice in Carol Stream for seventeen years. She also worked as a kennel assistant for Dupage County Animal Control from 1983 to 1986. A graduate of Glenbard North High School, Natalie grew up in Carol Stream, moving to Hanover Park in 1992.
Natalie and her husband share their home with many pets, large and small dogs, cats, birds, and fish. Natalie has special interests in birds, fish, and herps and she enjoys visiting zoos and aquariums. She used to show Persian cats and also has experience obedience training dogs. Natalie enjoys going on picnics in her spare time.back to top
Pat, CVT
Pat has been at Golf Rose Animal Hospital since 1997 and serves as our Lead Technician. Since 1986 she has been working with Weimeraners, competing with her own dogs at AKC shows and field events. She is an officer in the local Weimeraner breed club and is also active in the national club.
Before moving to Schaumburg when her husband was offered a job in the area, Pat spent most of her life in Cleveland and Coshocton, Ohio, with a short hiatus of 4 years living in St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Before becoming a veterinary technician, Pat's career was as a registered histopathology (human) laboratory technician.
Pat is married and her husband is a surgical assistant. Her daughter is married and lives in the Washington, DC area. Pat's first and only (to-date) granddaughter was born in October, 2005. Pat and her husband are owned by their four Weimeraners. In her spare time, Pat enjoys travel, scuba diving, gardening, dog sports, and spoiling her granddaughter. back to top
Tracey, CVT
Tracey graduated from Parkland College in Champaign with an Associate in Science degree in Veterinary Technology in 1998. She started working at Golf Rose Animal Hospital in 1997 as a summer intern, and then came on board full-time in 1998. Before college, Tracey worked for several years at a pet store.
Tracey lived in California and Michigan as a child before moving to Schaumburg with her family when she was 10 years old. She has four cats, two dogs, and a bird. In her spare time, Tracey likes to travel, see movies, garden, and cook. back to top
